ISLAND ROUTES
KERRI-ANNE CHISHOLM
Curator and Founder of Gram Bellas
Kerri-Anne Chisholm is a cultural practitioner, curator, and researcher dedicated to social justice. Raised in the Cayman Islands, her ancestral ties to Jamaica, Cuba and Scotland inform her views on multicultural Caribbean identity, cultural production, and postcoloniality.
Chisholm has developed exhibitions for the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, the University of Oxford (UK), Tate Modern (UK), and creative projects within England and the Caribbean. She is currently finalising her PhD research at the University of Reading, examining the Caribbean yard as a companion to traditional exhibition spaces that facilitate identity negotiation, community dialogue and care, and infra-political resistance.
The magic of Cayman Art Week is that it creates vital partnerships that transition artists’ private practice into public dialogue. The expansive reach of this route connects the maritime heritage of the Brac with the immersive energy of George Town’s historic storefronts, private creative hubs, polished design studios, and social spaces. By activating these unconventional venues, this selection demonstrates how art can transform the way we experience our everyday environments.
• GOODNESS GALLERY
The Vibe: Historic charm and handmade soul.
The Context: The Goodness Gallery is located in Goodness, a small shop with a massive local impact in central George Town. For CAW, this local favourite transforms into a pop-up gallery featuring the evocative works of artists and artisans, including Martina Jackson and Amrita Debnath. It is the perfect spot to experience the intersection of fine art and high-quality local craftsmanship.
• THE DIVINE FEMININE AT NEXT DOOR
The Vibe: Immersive, rhythmic, and soulful.
The Context: A sensory takeover at Camana Bay’s Next Door. This exhibition brings together the voices of Anne-Marie Diaz, Nasaria Suckoo-Chollette, Amrita Debnath, and Kim Agbuya to explore feminine creativity through art, wellness, and sound. Sip on specially curated cocktails and catch the live drum circle for a night that celebrates the "divine" through raw, collective energy.
• GORDON SOLOMON GALLERY & STUDIO (CAYMAN BRAC)
The Vibe: Maritime heritage meets contemporary soul.
The Context: A trip to the Brac is essential to see the launch of Gordon Solomon’s The Fair Weather Project. A collection of 16 new works that bridge our shipbuilding past with modern Caymanian identity, it is a powerful reminder that the voice of Caymanian art is as vast and deep as the waters between our islands.
• ELATION AT MAGENTA CREATIVE STUDIO
The Vibe: Luminous, joyful, and expansive.
The Context: Step into a world of light and colour with Elena McDonough’s Elation. Hosted at the Magenta Creative Studio, this fine art photography exhibition is a love letter to the Caymanian landscape. Capturing the emotional energy of our environment, McDonough creates a visual sanctuary to remind us of the profound joy found in the land we call home.
• ADRIFT AT SCOTT SWING’S STUDIO
The Vibe: Collaborative, intimate, and discovery-led.
The Context: Venture off the beaten path to Scott Swing’s Walker’s Road studio for Adrift. This group show featuring Swing, Justine Jervis, Kara Julian, and Sarah McDougall turns a personal workspace into an experimental landscape of coastal paintings, urban sculpture, and found-object assemblages. It’s an intimate look at the "inner landscapes" of artists who find beauty in the movement and uncertainty of the tides.
• SPATIAL DIALOGUE AT IDG INTERIOR DESIGN STUDIO
The Vibe: Architectural design meets the visual arts.
The Context: Enter the intersection of fine art and design at IDG for Spatial Dialogue, a collaboration between Al Ebanks, Janine Every, and Josie Frazer examining the chemistry between sculptural forms and architectural space. Demonstrating how contemporary art can shift the atmosphere and narrative of a home.
