MIND’S EYE CENTRE – HISTORIC SITE & GALLERY
The Mind’s Eye Centre is the childhood home of the intuitive artist and visionary Gladwyn K. ‘Miss Lassie’ Bush, MBE, who lived there until her death in 2003. Now owned and operated by the Cayman National Cultural Foundation (CNCF), both the historic cottage and the adjoining duplex serve as a public space for tours, workshops and exhibitions.
A fourth-generation Caymanian, Gladwyn K. ‘Lassie’ Bush began painting at the age of 62 after what she describes as a visionary experience. Strong Christian themes run through her work, which she painted not only on canvas but also on the walls, windows and furnishings of her home. The 149-year-old Caymanian home was constructed using traditional materials, and visitors to the site are able to immerse themselves in Cayman’s rich cultural heritage. Miss Lassie’s historic cottage is open for tours, and a permanent display of Miss Lassie’s works is on display in the adjoining duplex, presented alongside the current exhibition.
Currently on display at the Minds Eye Centre, home of the late visionary artist Gladwyn “Miss Lassie” Bush, is the National Children’s Festival of the Arts 2026 exhibition Under the Same Sun. Featuring students from public and private schools across the Cayman Islands, the exhibition celebrates the wide gamut of visual creativity and artistic expression. Presented through a partnership between the Department of Education Services and the Cayman National Cultural Foundation, this exhibition highlights the imagination, talent and perspectives of the next generation of artists.
