CAYMAN ISLANDS NATIONAL MUSEUM
For Cayman Art Week 2026, the Cayman Islands National Museum presents a special installation from its Freedoms Imagined; Freedoms Won exhibition.
Set within the Old Jail, this immersive experience brings to life the stories of two enslaved women - Long Celia and Elizabeth Jane Trusty - told in their own voices. The installation features AI-generated visuals designed by Brian Watler Jr., drawing on the research of Dr. Roy Murray, alongside a striking wall diorama by Chaminda Botugoda inspired by the Door of No Return in Ghana.
Upstairs, two dedicated gallery spaces continue their stories, featuring sculptural figures and garments created by Jevaughn Lynch, giving each woman a powerful physical presence. The exhibition also includes a quilt by Nasaria Suckoo-Chollette.
Together, the works aim to give voice to the voiceless, inviting visitors into a deeply personal and reflective encounter. The rest of the Museum will also be open for exploration.
